A lot of people choose to enhance their camping experience by getting a motorhome. Whether it’s your first RV or an upgrade you’re looking for, a motorhome can make travel very convenient and comfortable. It also skips the whole hitching process, which makes travel less worrisome.

With so many different options, it can be hard to make that final selection. To help you out with that, we at Howdy RV have compiled this guide on selecting the right motorhome. When you’re ready to check out motorhomes for sale in Mathis, Texas, visit us for a tour of our inventory. We’re here for all the RV needs of our patrons from Corpus Christi and San Antonio.

Class

Motorhomes are broken down by the class they fall into. There are certain differences between these classes that you’ll notice by simply observing them from the outside. These differences make up the various motorhome classes or subgroups.

Class A motorhomes are the largest RVs. These most closely resemble a bus rather than your usual trailers. The first most distinct difference you'll see is the  flat front with a wide, panoramic window at the front. They’re often the more luxurious options as well, coming with some of the best and most comfortable amenities. They’re a favorite choice for big families and full-time RVers.

Class B motorhomes are on the other end of the size spectrum. They’re the smallest, looking more like large vans than stereotypical motorhomes. Because of this, they usually come with comfortable accommodations, although generally the bare minimum. Usually, they can only comfortably sleep one or two people.

Class C motorhomes are more ambiguous than the other two, with a technical distinction. Often RVers like these models because they’re the middle ground for size, price, and luxury. While this is often the case, they’re more readily recognizable by their truck chassis. These are the best choice for those who want extra space without having to spend a lot of money for it.

Amenities

There will be a wide variety of choice when it comes to the amenities in a motorhome based on the class and the individual model. Some units come with only the essential features, while others offer top luxury amenities. Most come standard with a sleeping area and living area of some kind, which can include a kitchen, lounge furniture, a dinette and a bathroom.

To ensure you get what you want, you can add on other great features like exterior kitchens, multiple entertainment centers, fireplaces, expandable countertops and much more. Of course, the more a model offers, the more you’ll have to pay for it, so keep that in mind when browsing motorhomes for sale. Don’t spend more than you can afford, but also don’t shirk features that can enhance your RV lifestyle, safety and comfort.

Size

When making your final choice, the size of the different motorhome classes will play a big part. First, you should make sure your motorhome has enough sleeping arrangements for all your campers. In fact, we recommend allowing one or two additional arrangements for any guests you might have over.

Also think about how much elbow room you want in your motorhome. If you plan to spend a lot of time in your camper, if you have a big family or if you prioritize space in your living quarters, you’ll want a bigger model with all the space you need. Don’t forget that many motorhomes, even Class B motorhomes, come with slide-outs, which can expand the amount of space you have to work with. Take size accommodations seriously, as close quarters can quickly agitate some campers.

These are just a  few of the points to keep in mind when purchasing a motorhome. There will be some things that will be specific to your needs and preferences.
