Outdoor RV Activities

Outdoor RV Activities Article from Howdy Ranch RV

Your RV provides you with roomy and comfortable accommodations for all your wilderness camping trips and visits to natural attractions. However, you may not realize how versatile a camper can be until you venture out past camping with the family. RVs can be used as living quarters at a number of events throughout the year, and their spaciousness means you can fill them with quite a lot of stuff if you’ve got large purchase to make.

Your local RV dealer, Howdy Ranch RV, is located in Mathis, Texas, and we’re here to help you figure out some other ways to use your RV and make the most of your investment. These are some of our favorite outdoor RV activities, so give one or more of them a try and let us know how it goes!

Locate A Festival

Festivals abound across the country all year round, but particularly through the spring and summer months. To avoid the upcharges at local hotels, you can pack up your camper and head to SXSW here in Austin, Texas, Lollapalooza in Chicago, Illinois, Coachella in Indio, California or any number of other music and art festivals held in cities throughout the contiguous United States. Not a big concert goer? Try a food or beer festival, like a Scandinavian festival or Oktoberfest. You’re bound to find a gathering you enjoy where having your own lodgings will serve you well and create a more relaxing and comfortable festival experience than tent camping or a cheap motel would.

Go On A Fishing Trip

Your RV is well-suited to taking some of your angler friends on a weekend fishing excursion. You can park right next to the lake or river the night before, wake up bright and early before the sun to fix coffee and a light breakfast, then push your boat out onto the lake and get fishing as the day dawns. There are plenty of sleeping berths for several fishers, plus all the storage space you need for rods, tackle and bait. You can tow your boat in a trailer behind you. Then at night, when you’ve hauled in all your big catches for the day, you can roast them over an open campfire or prepare them in your RV’s kitchen for supper. Nothing could be more convenient!

Try A Creative Retreat

Whether you’re an artist, a writer, a quilter, a knitter, a woodworker or practice any number of other hobbies, your RV can provide you with a perfect getaway to spread out all your materials and really get to work on that labor of love. If you find everyday life at home to be too distracting, pack up your easel, notebooks or sewing machine and take them out into nature in your camper, then set up your workspace and start creating. Your mind will be able to open up more without your home life getting in the way and you can draw inspiration for your poetry, paintings or other work from the nature around you. If you’re into yoga or meditation, your RV can give you a way to comfortably practice these pastimes out in nature, too.

Look For Treasures

Many people are into collecting vintage treasures and antiques, and they flock in droves to flea markets and antique malls around the country to scoop up valuable trinkets and gorgeous furnishings. Your RV can give you a safe way to transport large purchases at antique shops without having to ship them or try to find space in your passenger vehicle. Try using your RV to head to a local small town where the antiques haven’t been pored over completely and look for that rare book, beautiful armoire or other treasure you’ve been pining for. You never know what you might find!
