Where to Find the Best Rope Swings in Texas

Published June 5, 2024

Nothing says summer in Texas like a good rope swing over a crystal clear swimming hole. We rounded up the best rope swings in the Lone Star State so you can plan your next RV road trip around them.

Krause Springs (Spicewood) — Maybe the most famous of all. Spring-fed pools, towering cypress trees, and a rope swing that drops you into water cold enough to make you whoop. RV camping is available on-site.

Blue Hole Regional Park (Wimberley) — Crystal-clear water shaded by ancient cypress trees, with reservation-only swimming that keeps the crowds manageable.

Garner State Park (Concan) — The Frio River runs cold and clear, and the rope swings along the banks have been part of generations of family memories.

Hamilton Pool Preserve (Dripping Springs) — Technically no rope swing, but the natural grotto and waterfall earn an honorable mention for any Hill Country swimming hole road trip.

Pack the swimsuits, hitch up the trailer, and plan your route. Just remember — swim at your own risk and always check the water depth before you jump.
